It feels like splitting hairs, but at 10W this uses significantly more power than a Raspberry Pi ("A" is 1.5W, "B" is 3.5W). Just a heads up.


The 10 watt power supply is so that the USB ports can have full power. The board alone probably doesn't use much more than 6 watts or so at maximum load (the similar ODROID-X draws about 7 watts maximum on the AC side of the power adapter)


Being able to power the RPi off USB is, unexpectedly, one of my favorite features. Wall warts just plain suck. You won't be able run 6w off USB 3.0 for a while yet.


It's unfortunate to not be able to power other things off of the Raspberry Pi's USB though. Like a WiFi USB dongle.

But we knew we were in for the ride when we bought rPi's.


Raspbery Pi is 700 MHz, single core, 256MB RAM.

This is 1.7 GHz, quad core, 2048MB RAM.

If anything, it's more efficient per watt than RPi (and per dollar).


More efficient, though depending on what your plan is efficiency will be less important than power consumption. Battery power would be a good deal harder with those.

Like anything, you've got to pick the right tool for the job.


It's pretty much an updated version of the Dreamplug, although I'm going to miss the GigE.


The Pi (Model B which all the new ones they ship are), is 512MB RAM.
