This sounds completely reasonable:

> - AI spreads misinformation and causes societal damage

Agreed. And so are the other two, if stated reasonably instead of as strawmen.

The A1s/As minis are dead cheap. I don't know if you'll find anything much better for a competitive price, frankly.

To be clear for anyone else reading: those are the official options. But there are plenty of alternatives that allow for using a Bambu remotely. It just won't be quite as polished an experience as finding a model in Handy and hitting print.

I run this on the home server w/ caddy-tailscale, and I can slice/print from anywhere with a nice easily rememberable domain name. I run a P1S in LAN mode and have it firewalled from actual internet access.

Any providers hosting it outside of China?

Right now there's at least two: https://openrouter.ai/z-ai/glm-5.3-flash

Give it a day or two. More will pop up.

I don't see anyone other than ZAI yet but GLM 5.2 is available on many providers worldwide so I'd expect we'll see the same on this one soon.

Has there been any confirmation about what that model even is?

Edit: Ah:

> This stealth model was developed and operated by ZAI, revealed to be ZAI GLM-5.3-Flash.

It's also in this very announcement, in the first paragraph:

> Before release, we tested GLM-5.3-Flash anonymously as ox-alpha on OpenCode and OpenRouter to gather user feedback. It quickly became the most popular model of the week — with all of this traffic served on Chinese AI chips.

So where are the alternatives popping up?

> Did he describe it as a "fuel crisis" when gas prices rose from their previous ~2.80 baseline to the peak of $4.93 in June 2022, a 76% increase? Or was it not a crisis then for some reason?

Ah, that's the "both sides" I was expecting this comment to lead to! Right after downplaying the self-inflicted, but nonetheless global, crisis. The cherry on top is pretending there's a double standard that was broken.

So where are the alternative instances popping up left and right? I thought the internet would detect a problem and route around it.

If even a few of the people freaking out here just recreated or rehosted nitter elsewhere out of their reach, we probably wouldn't have this problem. Be the change you wish to see
