Propane isn't exactly good for you either, and it'd obviously flammable. Freon caused ozone layer depletion. There is no perfect refrigerant, but CO2 seems pretty safe.
Indeed, on modern laptops and phones every UI interaction should be instant (check out BeOS in 1995 for comparison). For background stuff, add some progress indicator.
Can't believe the crap OSes and frameworks add these days in terms of performance cost (and sadly, Apple doesn't exactly shine in that regard)
Then don't. Isn't the whole point of long support cycles that you can keep using your phone for 5 years +, if it serves you well? (typing this from an S22)
I think local-first is a good heuristic in that it would avoid needless pushing of goods around the globe (or needless round-trips of lots of data around the globe).
Also, some people might like it if a product or service was made in US, Switzerland, Germany, Italy etc... for purely personal reasons (feelings).
Clearly not, or this wouldn't be something people discuss at all.
There are lots of people who belong to the above groups, sure, but at least here in Germany Nazi is now applied to basically anyone who doesn't vote green, it's ridiculous.
I think there is value in an app you can drag/drop or exe you can just click (trust issues aside, maybe get them from some marketplace or walled garden) and that will keep working after the next OS update or get updates for future changes in XYZ.
You could say that the difference between "don't be evil" and having no backbone at all is quite a strong incentive (and strongly influences your brand valuation), but once your reputation is in the gutter, maybe it doesn't matter anymore.
Happy they named it EcoCute, that's so much better than ElectroCute :)
