I highly agree. I once registered a domain through them that happened to be my last name but coincidentally also the name of a company. They restricted me from using the domain and never refunded me the yearly fee for it (citing trademark reasons, although under Swiss trademark law, someones legal name is not a trademark violation, especially as it was just my personal website and I wasn't working on a competing product/service). Only weeks later someone else successfully registered it without such issues.
Worse even, in my account panel I still had control over the e-mail service of the domain, so there was most definitely a pretty bad security critical bug there.
Depends on your mindset. If you are an Engineer that does not need hand-holding and you accept terse answers from support with the gratitude to the human on the other side, then go for it.
You will at least not need months of training and tough exams to be an expert in Hetzner Cloud. It is simple, but that's the point.
I mostly use Hetzner baremetal servers and not cloud, but the support there is in my experience very competent, but also VERY german and direct. I can imagine if youre neither german or super technical that this can be intimidating or considered unfriendly

If I put my conspiracy theory hat one and I always get piled on for this theory in other online communities but I think it could be possible. The theory is I think Aaron found some very dark stuff while exploring the MIT private networks, things that he was not supposed to see and could be very damaging to a lot people if they were exposed.
The infamous Jeffery Epstein was donating a lot of money to MIT and its Media Labs. I think there is a much deeper story at play that the mainstream narrative is hiding with a “suicide”.
If he found fucked up stuff regarding crimes way worse than his on university networks don't you think he could have gotten out of the sentencing entirely by cooperating against them
Epstein was relatively restrained even in his personal email, I doubt he was using MIT administrated systems to facilitate a pedo ring
It's not that simple. If he did find dark stuff, and he got caught - he will have both the state murderers and the filth on his case. That's the best case scenario assuming the state isn't on the side of the filth by which case he was cooked no matter what he did. Filth does not even have come after you. They can just send you a family portrait and you'd know the hole is deep and only one way out.
Your theory is that he found "very dark stuff" that is accessible to any MIT student? Schwartz didn't "hack" anything, he connected to their student network and downloaded articles that they had access to but the public didn't.
I'm not from the USA so my views are obviously biased by this. I very much doubt Epstein committed suicide, and it's been wild to watch you guys deal with it, not releasing the files, holding nobody accountable and so on. That being said, I also don't think there needs to be a big dark secret to explain why someone caught in the USA justice system would commit suicide.
It's crazy that you could face 35 years in jail for trying to free knowledge in a harmless manner. The longest anyone has been imprisoned for in my country in modern times is 26 years, 11 months and 6 days. We have a few people posed to break that record. Peter Lundin has been in prison for 25ish years, and him and Peter Madsen (the discount elon musk turned murderer who killed some poor journalist in is selfmade submarine) are contenders to people who will probably go beyond 35 years.
Not that our system is perfect. I think we're far too lenient on some crimes, but risking 35 years in jail for downloading and sharing academic knowledge... That's objectively evil.

Baby food is often just puréed fruits and vegetables. Adult diapers are only funny if you've never considered that being able-bodied is temporary.
It is more likely that the person purchasing adult diapers and baby food is the caregiver of an adult. Perhaps of themselves, or an aging parent, or their spouse who is recovering from surgery.

My mind went to "A fairly typical household where grandpa/grandma lives in the house and you also have at least one baby, or someone (maybe same grandpa/grandma) have troubles digesting food". Funny how different our casual links can be formed in our head :)
Note that there is a certain level of arbitrariness
involved in this association game. For instance, if a household regularly is in need of both parsley and also condoms, the fact that they are purchased together may be a result of the pure coincidence that both were empty/used up at the same time (which is also a function of the package sizes of both items). We would be much less surprised at the mined associations if we took a longitudinal,
per-household look.
Furthermore, a shopping basked is per-household, but not per-person: the parsley and the condom may be used by different members of the household, or be shared, or be part of a gift to someone outside.
The human brain also tends to make up "causal" connections between any two items, when the real reason is often much more mundane.

Yep. It will be interesting to see if things move that way or not. AI scraping might get annoying but a lot of sites (eg e-commerce) have obvious incentives to allow AIs to scrape them for free (or even pay AI companies to prioritize them, like they already do with Google).
I never believed that the messages were truly E2E encrypted and I know for sure when WhatsApp retroactively censored a message I sent to a friend a while back, I found that super sus.
Can you be sure WhatsApp retroactively censored a message? Implying someone else but the direct recipient could read and delete/change it? (I believe group chats are different, forgot the details.) I don’t want to be dismissive but.. well i dont believe this is the best explanation given just these observations.
It said the message was removed for violating some rule or something. The message was a link to a website meta does not approve of but it was removed like a day later.
Wow, that is honestly a bit freaky - first I’ve heard of anything like that. I will assume it was a client side action, but still horribly invasive if that’s how it went. I’ll try to find more about this possibility.
