This isn't a rant, this is an observation or conclusion. I'm amused how clueless people really are. I mean, it's mind boggling how vast the desert of the emptymindedness is in this forum.

They are not evaluating human beings though. They evaluate a textual representation of a human being’s work experience.

Cool project! I've been playing around with a couple of different implementations of an infinite canvas.

One of the reasons why I did not go with an HTML based approach is because the XY translation gets really laggy with a couple dozen items.

Yeah, that was one of the main challenges and still is.

We chose Electron because the goal for v1 was to make Cate easy to try across macOS, Windows, and Linux without asking people to change their OS setup or use a specific window manager. A native implementation would probably give us more control and better performance in some areas, but it would also make iteration and cross-platform support much harder at this stage.

The HTML/canvas approach definitely has tradeoffs. Large canvases, XY transforms, terminals, browser previews, editors, and agents all in one workspace can get expensive if handled naively. We’ve been working on viewport-based rendering, transform handling, and avoiding unnecessary re-renders, but it is still an ongoing performance challenge.

So yes, we accounted for it, but I would not claim it is “solved”. v1 is much better than the early builds, and we’re continuing to improve it.

The opposite of "hand egg" is not "foot egg".

And the point is that the object played in "American Football" is not a ball. Balls are round. It is egg shaped. The object played in "Football" is a ball. Describing the ball in football as an egg just makes you look like you can't see properly.

The opposite would be foot ball. Although both are petty as anyway both are called it because it is played on foot with a ball. Not because you use your foot to kick a ball.

Yes: But the Hobbit is much shorter and is a much easier read. It also was edited after LOTR was published to fix some minor plot holes.

WRT the movies: Peter Jackson added a lot to the "Hobbit" trilogy that wasn't in the book, such as the whole story arc about Gandalf when he wasn't with the dwarves, or the other wizards. The book isn't the epic that the movie makes it out to be.

They are for me. Got banned and received the explanation that my actual billing details were suspicious (there was nothing suspicious other than possibly my geolocation which is SE Asia). I asked them to clarify and they declined.

Signed up with Contabo without incident and have been a happy customer ever since.

Look, whether or not Hetzner chose to block me out of blatant geo-racism is not at issue here, I wouldn't want to do business with them either way since they declined to give me a reasonable explanation and I wouldn't feel secure with a provider like that.
